I live in Northern California and offer a combination of in-person and online tutoring. Most families find online tutoring more convenient and flexible with busy family schedules. In my 30 years of teaching, I have worked with hundreds of students with dyslexia and/or dysgraphia and find private tutoring extremely rewarding.
Tutoring begins with administering assessments to determine a student's current strengths and challenges in phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, high-frequency words, reading abilities (fluency, accuracy, level, and comprehension), written composition, and handwriting. I use the assessment data to plan individualized instruction for every student. Tutoring sesison are guided by the Stuctured Literacy approach, using Orton-Gillingham methodology.
